Southern Shaanxi陕南

Between the Qinling and Ba Mountains, the Han River and its tributaries cut valleys and small basins. Slopes are wooded, rice grows in the valley bottoms, and mist and damp are common.

Spring

Rapeseed runs from the valley floors up to the foot of the slopes, tea buds open around Qingming, and the rivers rise quickly after rain.

Summer

The paddies are flooded, cloud rises out of the mountains most afternoons, and the valleys are muggy while higher ground stays cool.

Autumn

Rice, citrus and kiwifruit ripen in sequence; the hills stay green while the water clears.

Winter

Damp and cold, often foggy. Evergreens hold the green, and thin snow occasionally settles in the valleys.
